My Task Board

A free online Kanban board with sticky notes. Free forever, no account required. Your tasks stay in this browser.

Saved in this browser

Quick help: add tasks with “Add a task”, then drag them between columns (on a phone: press and hold a note, then drag). Tick the square when a task is finished. Click ⋮ on a note to edit its text and colour; Esc cancels. Use ⋯ on a column to rename it, set a task limit, or add and remove columns. Keyboard: focus a note and use ← → ↑ ↓ to move it, Enter to edit, Space to tick, Delete to remove (you can undo).

What My Task Board does

My Task Board is a free online Kanban board. Each task is a sticky note in five colours (yellow, pink, orange, green and blue). You move notes across columns as the work moves: To Do, In Progress, Review and Done. You can rename the columns, add or delete columns, set a task limit (WIP limit) per column, write one project goal at the top, and tick tasks when they are finished.

Who it is for

  • Anyone who wants to plan a week, a project or a move without installing an app
  • Students who plan their study, for example for the PMP or PSM I exam
  • Small teams who look at one screen together in a meeting
  • People learning Kanban or Scrum who want to try a board in practice

How to use it

  1. Write your goal in the “Project goal” line.
  2. Click “Add a task” under a column, type the task and press Enter.
  3. Drag notes to the next column as work moves. On a phone, press and hold a note for a moment, then drag.
  4. Tick the square when a task is finished. Click ⋮ to change the text or colour.
  5. Open ⋯ on a column to rename it or set a task limit, for example 3 in “In Progress”.

What is saved, and where

Your tasks are saved only in this browser, on this device (browser local storage). They are not sent to PMCLEAR or to any other server, and PMCLEAR cannot see them. There is no cloud sync: a board on your laptop does not appear on your phone. The status next to the buttons always says whether the last change was saved. If your browser blocks storage (some private windows do), it says so, and you should use Export to keep a copy. Clearing your browser data deletes the board.

How Export and Import work

Export downloads your whole board as a small file called my-task-board.json: columns, limits, tasks, colours, ticks and the goal. Keep it as a backup, or open the page on another device and use Import to load it there. Import first checks the file. If it is not a board exported from this tool, nothing changes. If it is, you are asked to confirm before your current board is replaced, and you can undo it right after.

Practical examples

Plan your week

Columns: To Do, Today, Waiting, Done. Every morning, move two or three notes into “Today”. Use pink for personal tasks and blue for work.

Study plan for an exam

Columns: To study, Studying, Practice questions, Done, with a limit of 2 in “Studying”. One note per lesson, for example from the free PMP lessons or the free Scrum course.

Home renovation

Columns: Ideas, To buy, In progress, Done. Use the goal line for the deadline (“Kitchen ready by June”) and orange notes for anything that needs a tradesperson.

Keyboard and accessibility

Every note can be reached with the Tab key. Arrow keys move the focused note between and within columns, Enter edits it, Space ticks it and Delete removes it. Every deletion can be undone for 10 seconds. In the editor, Esc cancels all changes, including the colour.

Questions

Is My Task Board really free?

Yes. It is free forever: no account, no trial, no payment and no card. You can use it as much as you like.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Open the page and start adding tasks. There is nothing to sign up for.

Can someone else see my board?

No. The board lives only in your browser. To share it, use Export and send the file; the other person can use Import on their device.

What is a WIP limit?

A work-in-progress limit is the most tasks you want in a column at once. When a column goes over its limit, the count turns bold so you notice. It is a Kanban idea that helps you finish work before starting more.
